The Sbuirrels #2 - "Ed's Card Trick" Talkback

Updated: Jan 16, 2021

Original Release Date: May 30, 2017

Ed explaining how his stupid card trick works.

This issue marks the debut of Ed's new red-orange color. Ed is based upon Nicolas Cage's character from Deadfall (1993), clips of which you can see here:

Eddie is introduced trying to force the main character into a strange card trick, where one has to take a card from Eddie's deck and the latter has to guess what card one is holding. The card in question usually ends up being a joker and it ultimately turns out that all of Eddie's cards are jokers. Furthermore, Ed's mispronunciation of “aficionado” is also from Deadfall, where Cage pronounces “particularly” as “particularily” for some reason (as seen in the above video).

I consider this one of the weaker issues of The Sbuirrels, but I feel that the following one is a major improvement.
